Advanced Usage

The filemap.txt file that is distributed with lds-get is far from complete and so at times it won't have the ensign or manual that you are wanting to grab from lds.org. Here is how to add these things to your filemap.

• Go to lds.org and find the table of contents for the manual or ensign you wish to retrieve. Find the url for this page. (Be careful with this one. lds.org uses frames to display pages so the url shown by the browser is probably not the one needed. I am unsure about using IE, but with a browser like FireFox if you have got the table of contents page for the manual you want in the frame to the right, you can right click, and then select show only this page. At this point the proper URL will be shown in the URL line of the browser.)
• Open filemap.txt in some sort of text editor. Scroll to the end of file. Copy the last line, it should look something like 'other path url', edit this line with the path that you want this new manual or ensign to go to and the url which the table of contents for this manual or ensign resides on lds.org.
• Now add an entry somewhere in the layout you are using that points to this new entry. (Look for an entry in your layout that points to one of the other ensigns or manuals and copy and modify it to point to this new item).
• Re-run lds-get.
